The rumor

Canon Rumors says a solid source told it the EOS R7 Mark II will use a partially stacked sensor, which would be Canon's first in an EOS camera. Talk had long been of a fully stacked sensor before it changed to partially stacked, which should be cheaper to make while still speeding up readout. The site has repeatedly heard the resolution goes up from the R7's 32MP to about 39MP, and still expects the camera in the first quarter of 2027.
